Spooky Halloween Sheet Music
Well, it’s October. That means there’s less than a month until Halloween. I know that most people don’t think of Halloween as a real holiday, but it’s still one of my favourite “fake holidays.”
When I was much younger and still a beginner piano player, I used to enjoy playing fun little Halloween songs in my beginner books. In fact, I can still play one even after all these years and not looking that the sheet music for over 10 years.
Spooky, dark, and scary piano music can sound great. It has so much power and can evoke a “fearful” emotion for your listeners. I always thought it would be great to learn a whole bunch of scary sounding pieces and play them while someone answers the door for trick-or-treaters. I did this once, actually. I played a piece called “Giant Insects” from one of my RCM Grade 3 books. It really set the mood for Halloween night!
I came across these great Halloween sheet music books, and I highly recommend all of them.
Halloween Collection (Intermediate to Advanced Piano)
This collection is being offered by Virtual Sheet Music. It’s a compilation of a bunch of scary sounding piano music, including Chopin’s Funeral March and even Bach’s Toccata & Fuge, most famously known from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. You can get all of these great pieces for $10.99 or sign up as a member and download as much sheet music as you want. You can also listen to an audio clip of each piece, which is awesome. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (Easy to Medium Piano)
I absolutely love Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas, and the soundtrack is great as well. Fantastic for Halloween, and not as advanced as the previous book I recommended. This book has 80 pages featuring 11 creepy classic songs with vocal melody, lyrics, chord names, and even guitar chord diagrams. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
The Halloween Songbook (Easy Piano)
This book is great for children who are beginners, or adults who wish to learn a few creepy, easy piano songs. This book includes 16 spooky tines, including some very recognizable pieces: The Addams Family Theme, Monster Mash, Funeral March, and Casper the Friendly Ghost. Songs come with vocal melody, lyrics, and chord names, for a total of 48 pages. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
If you get started now, you’ll be sure to have some great pieces under your skin to really set the mood for Halloween night. All the trick-or-treating kids and parents of those kids will be impressed. Even if you don’t want to put on a show for Halloween night, these books are great for kids who want a little more fun and variety in their practice routine.
Elise’s Musical Tip For The Day:
Please check out these books ASAP. I, myself (a member of Virtual Sheet Music) have downloaded all the pieces from the first Halloween Collection I recommended. They will definitely help spice up the season!
