"No other acoustic instrument can match the piano's expressive range, and no electric instrument can match its mystery."

Yamaha P-70 Digital Piano

I own and use the Yamaha P-70/P-70S Digital Piano everyday. It’s a great full-sized keyboard for the musician who doesn’t exactly have the space or money for an acoustic piano.

The P-70 has minimal features, which I like because it makes it easy to use. Personally, all I need is volume control and an earphone outlet. It comes with 10 expressive sounds and a weighted keyboard that is constructed to feel like a grand piano keyboard.

I also use the MIDI input/output that’s located on the backside of the piano, which can be hooked up to my computer and used to record myself playing. Although you can’t substitute for a real concert grand piano, the Yamaha P-70 has the strength and elegance of a great-sounding grand piano. I have mine hooked up to a surround sound stereo system, so the deep and expressive range of sounds fills the entire room when I play. Specifica features of the P-70 include:

  • 88-notes graded hammer action
  • 32-notes of polyphony
  • 10 voices: grand piano, EP, pipe organ, and strings
  • Dual voice mode
  • Digital reverb
  • FC5 sustain pedal and music rest included
  • MIDI I/O
  • Headphone/sustain jack
  • Built-in speakers and amp
