The Best Christmas Piano Sheet Music Arrangements
Can you believe that it’s already December 12th? There are only twelve more days of Christmas shopping, decorating, caroling, egg nogging, cooking, and ugly sweater partying. I may be a little late on delivering the best Christmas sheet music considering that there are less than two weeks until the big day, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get started and even be extra prepared for next year.
I’m usually pretty bad with practicing Christmas music and I always have been. I procrastinate like crazy and before I know it, it’s December 23rd and I’ve only learned the first page of the piece. If I get my piano playing butt into gear, I’ll be able to finish a specific piece soon, which I’ll post to YouTube (hopefully).
I’ve been a recurring member of Virtual Sheet Music for a long time, and when it comes to holiday sheet music, they have the best to offer. I would suggest going with Virtual Sheet Music as opposed to Sheet Music Plus when it comes to Christmas music. They have better deals and more variety, especially for the advanced players.
And despite the annoying Christmas carols that we often find ourselves surrounded by in malls, grocery stores, and at the dentist, the piano arrangements offered by Virtual Sheet Music are delicately composed to include a wide variety of beautiful chords and harmonies. They sound absolutely amazing.
Christmas Carols (Easy Piano)
For the beginner piano player, this book offers three amazing Christmas carol collections of 13 pieces each, for a total of 39 pieces. These collections include almost every holiday carol you could think of, and come with lyrics and chords. These collections are ready for download in PDF format, with the option to download the MIDI and mp3 files as well. Even if you’re not going to be the one playing these pieces, they make a great gift for a friend or family member!
Christmas Variations (Advanced Piano)
For the advanced pianist, this collection is like a holiday dream come true. I downloaded this collection for free as a member back in November, and I was blown away. I’ve learned the first two pages of Carol of the Bells so far. What truly makes Virtual Sheet Music stand out is their inclusion of MIDI and mp3 files. You can listen to the exact piece before you buy it and even use it to help your piano playing.
Elise’s Musical Tip For The Day:
Virtual Sheet Music is one of the best sheet music websites because of their high quality sheet music scores and their membership alternative. I would typically not recommend buying each collection separately (even though this is an option). You can join as a member for $37.50 per year and gain free access to their entire library of sheet music and audio files. You can download as many files as you want, as often as you want. And if you’re not satisfied with your experience, they do have a return policy. So, what are you waiting for? Click here to become a member of Virtual Sheet Music.
Spooky Halloween Sheet Music
Well, it’s October. That means there’s less than a month until Halloween. I know that most people don’t think of Halloween as a real holiday, but it’s still one of my favourite “fake holidays.”
When I was much younger and still a beginner piano player, I used to enjoy playing fun little Halloween songs in my beginner books. In fact, I can still play one even after all these years and not looking that the sheet music for over 10 years.
Spooky, dark, and scary piano music can sound great. It has so much power and can evoke a “fearful” emotion for your listeners. I always thought it would be great to learn a whole bunch of scary sounding pieces and play them while someone answers the door for trick-or-treaters. I did this once, actually. I played a piece called “Giant Insects” from one of my RCM Grade 3 books. It really set the mood for Halloween night!
I came across these great Halloween sheet music books, and I highly recommend all of them.
Halloween Collection (Intermediate to Advanced Piano)
This collection is being offered by Virtual Sheet Music. It’s a compilation of a bunch of scary sounding piano music, including Chopin’s Funeral March and even Bach’s Toccata & Fuge, most famously known from the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. You can get all of these great pieces for $10.99 or sign up as a member and download as much sheet music as you want. You can also listen to an audio clip of each piece, which is awesome. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (Easy to Medium Piano)
I absolutely love Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas, and the soundtrack is great as well. Fantastic for Halloween, and not as advanced as the previous book I recommended. This book has 80 pages featuring 11 creepy classic songs with vocal melody, lyrics, chord names, and even guitar chord diagrams. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
The Halloween Songbook (Easy Piano)
This book is great for children who are beginners, or adults who wish to learn a few creepy, easy piano songs. This book includes 16 spooky tines, including some very recognizable pieces: The Addams Family Theme, Monster Mash, Funeral March, and Casper the Friendly Ghost. Songs come with vocal melody, lyrics, and chord names, for a total of 48 pages. Click here if you’re interested in this book.
If you get started now, you’ll be sure to have some great pieces under your skin to really set the mood for Halloween night. All the trick-or-treating kids and parents of those kids will be impressed. Even if you don’t want to put on a show for Halloween night, these books are great for kids who want a little more fun and variety in their practice routine.
Elise’s Musical Tip For The Day:
Please check out these books ASAP. I, myself (a member of Virtual Sheet Music) have downloaded all the pieces from the first Halloween Collection I recommended. They will definitely help spice up the season!
